News from the last meeting

Our last meeting was the first one for 2020 since the January one was cancelled due to snowmaggedon and there was a lot to discuss.

We distributed the new 2020 membership cards to those in attendance. Do not forget to come with your $20 contribution next meeting to get one if you could not make it. Not only does it help your favorite club to keep running but it also pays for the monthly raffle prizes.

We have new business cards for the club. Camille did a great job on the design and even incorporated a QR code that leads directly to the club’s website. The cards will have to be distributed to the local hobby stores and Gerry C will look into possibly building a card holder.

The budget for the show was discussed. It is tight but we should break even if we can get some generous sponsorship and donations for our big raffle. Vendor table prize may have to increase for 2021. The room rental prize has increased for liability insurance and is expected to increase further for 2021. Christophe will monitor closely the 2020 show costs and revenues to prepare a balanced budget for 2021.

The website has been updated to include the show flyer.

We are looking for volunteers for the show. We need someone for security, someone to help with the Make N Take, raffle tickets and so on.

Gerry Bamforth is still taking vendor table reservations for the show. He has 18 registered to date so it looks like it will be a success.

The Mt Vernon contest and swap meet show will be March 28th, one week after our show. Check out the details in the agenda section of our website.

What’s on the bench?

Here a few pictures of the other work in progress from our fellow members:

Gerry C brought some cool models of Mustangs, an atypical Nissan with rear engine and a Farilane:

Contact Gerry is you want a cast copy of the wheels ot the body of this gorgeous Mustang coupe.

Doug had some cool work in progress to share with nice attention to details:

Brian brought a Bel Air and an original and reedition of the Golden Commandos kits:

It was nice to be able to compare the 2 kits.

Gene has been working on what promises to be a killer Camaro. The paint was already polished to a nice finish on the roof and trunk and the color was just right with a nice metallic effect. Pegasus wheels will complete the restomod look.

Christophe has been working on a 1974 Plymouth GTX. The paint is weathered and the rake is accentuated to the max with lower front and raised back. Side exhaust and a roll cage are in the works to complete the look of this cheap street racer.

As ususal, one of our monthly raffle prizes was up for grab to all members in attendance and up to to date with their 2020 contribution. Christophe was our lucky winner and left with the Foose pickup. Which one would you have picked?

There were some good deals to be made for those who where interested:

Christophe had the new posters ready for the upcoming show:

We hope to see you there!

What will be discussed in the next meeting?

We will discuss the last details for the upcoming show and swap meet event. Hopefully we will fill all the volunteer positions.

We will distribute more membership cards.

We hope to see you there!

New members and visitors are always welcome! Our next meeting will be March 10th at the Lions Housing Society Club House 7420 Mulberry Place in Burnaby, from 7pm to 9pm.
