News from the last meeting

The 2020 Car Model show will be March 21st, 2020 and the official flyer will be ready soon, start working on your famous movie car.

The 2021 car show theme will be announced at the 2020 car show to allow ample time for participants to work on their model.

There will be some additional costs to rent the room at the rec center due to insurance liability coverage increase by the City of Burnaby. The actual costs will be communicated to the club around September 2020.

Christophe announced that he created a new website and blog for the club. The Newsletter will be distributed through the blog moving forward and the website should allow the club to reach additional members or contestants for the car model show. The blog and website appear to remain free for now but there will be commercials and no domain name. The club will run it like this for the moment and might consider including the fee in the budget if the website turns out to be a necessity to appropriately communicate to all interested parties. The presence on the web should help alleviate the lack of communication and advertisement experienced previously.

Christophe suggested that he will post on the blog pictures from the car shows he is attending. Club members are encouraged to send material they wish to see published to feed the blog.

The members in attendance discussed painting techniques and hobby shops. Christophe proposed to come up with a map showing all hobby stores known by the club members in their area. This could help fellow members when they are outside of their usual shopping area.

Another suggestion from Gerry Chevalier was to share pictures of our work area. We must each have a different setup and it would be interesting to compare and discuss.

What’s on the bench?

Here a few pictures of the work in progress from our fellow members:

Chirstophe's current project, using enamel paint, no clear coat and fujimi aftermarket wheels. Fender flares and trunk spoiler are made with Tamiya 2 part putty. Interior color is custom made mixing 2 enamel paints.

Gerry C's latest project the Cougar Elimintaor Fastback with boss 302 decals and louvers. Available as a resin kit to replicate this sexy model.

And here are the correct names of the club members on the last newsletter picture, there was a mistake on the previous one and it turns out that a few spotted it, which is good because it means people are reading the newsletter!

What will be discussed in the next meeting?

We are still on the search for a new Vice-president. Candidates are welcome for this position.

We should have our official 2020 car model show flyer.

We hope to see you there!

New members and visitors are always welcome! Our next meeting will be July 9th at the Lions Housing Society Club House 7420 Mulberry Place in Burnaby, from 7pm to 9pm.
