News from the last meeting

The 2020 Car Model show will be March 21st, 2020 and the official flyer is now ready, Christophe will be sending the jpeg and pdf files to members who can print it out for future distribution. For those who need inspiration to get going on their famous movie car, go check the KMS tool car show post on our blog. There was a company in attendance who specializes in movie replica cars and they had quite a few on display. It was nice to see “in the flesh” the A-Team van, the Fall Guy Pickup truck, the Knight Rider Firebird and so on.

The new website and blog for the club were discussed and general feedback is good. The Newsletter is now distributed through the blog and Christophe asked for members who are going to the Deuce Car Show in Victoria to send pictures and a quick text for a future post on the blog. Gene and Gerry, we count on you!

The club will have a table at the “Maker Faire” event on September 14th at the science museum in Vancouver. Christophe paid the $50 deposit to register the club. Volunteers are needed to present our hobby to the public. Show flyers will be handed out and Brian has a display that can be used to show the car model construction steps. Gerry suggested to actually bring a model to build during the event as it draws more attention than just sitting and waiting for people to come.

Christophe will ask all members to provide feedback on the hobby shops in their respective area. The intent is to build a map on the website to gather all this information.

As suggested by Gerry Chevalier, members are encouraged to share pictures of their work area for a future post.

We are pleased to announce that Gerry Bamforth has accepted to remain vice-president of the club for 2019 in absence of any other volunteer in attendance during the past 3 meetings. Thank you Gerry!

Finally, the PMC EXPO 2020 model show will be Saturday March 28th from 10am to 4pm at the Mt Vernon Senior Center, 1401 Cleveland St, Mt Vernon, Washington. The theme class will be Indy & Formula One. For more info, contact Jody Sorenson at 360 739 1888 or jodysorenson@gmail.com.

What’s on the bench?

The star of this meeting was Gordon Hall who presented his ambitious new project: a car carrier tractor and trailer dedicated to the transport of Ford Mustangs. Gordon will even use a FORD truck cabin on a Peterbilt chassis to keep it all in the same family:
